[Music] Welcome to the Scientific Thinking course. Many times when we talk about science, we might think of endless blackboards filled with incredibly complicated math. Or perhaps we imagine laboratories with steaming test tubes. Science is much more than that. Science is about the generation, verification, and dissemination of knowledge, and this knowledge allows us to do things. And this isn't limited to generating energy, curing diseases, improving our planet, or knowing where we come from or where we're going. Science also provides us with tools that can help us improve our health, our relationships, and our environment in general. Science helps us make better decisions. In this course, we'll focus on how scientific thinking has developed and how we can apply it in our daily lives to make better decisions. We'll begin with a brief history of scientific thought, which over the last millennia has refined different methods for generating and verifying knowledge. We'll look at these methods and how we can apply them in our daily lives, as well as how both scientific and non- scientific knowledge spreads in our societies, giving structure to our culture. Finally, we'll see the limits of scientific knowledge and how we can make decisions. Good decisions still. In these cases, the course will last 6 weeks with a weekly workload of 3 to 5 hours and will consist of videos interspersed with quizzes. It will be free for everyone, taught in Spanish, and everyone who completes the course will receive a certificate. It is focused on a general audience. So everyone is welcome. Let's learn together to make better decisions for the benefit of all. [Music]
