Yes, Malcolm. I think that's when we're going to get AGI. >> Will quantum computing have any effect on AI? Like, will it compute faster? >> It's when we [music] create an AI algorithm that can run on a quantum processor. When we have enough quantum bits to be able to create lattices that can overlap at the same scale as today's modern lattices. It'll basically become an AGI at that point. And it will get exciting.

Original Description

Will quantum computing change AI? Maybe, but not like a magic speed switch for everything. Quantum chips could help with a few math heavy tasks, like search, sampling, and some optimization, if we find the right algorithms and build stable machines. But quantum computers today are small and noisy, and most AI runs best on classic GPUs. Also, having more qubits does not automatically create AGI. We would still need new models, good data, and safe training methods. Quantum hardware might one day make certain parts of AI faster, but AGI is not guaranteed just because it runs on a quantum processor.
