Affiliates used to make a flat 8.5% commission per sale on every product when they reached a certain level of sales volume each month. This now has a sliding scale of affiliate commission that is based on product categories and can be as low as 1%. On the flip side, the costs associated with selling items as an FBA seller have gone up. Amazon is squeaking out a few percentage points more in profit at the expense of individuals who have built their businesses on the backs of Amazon. Now is this wrong of Amazon? Of course not.
