So it's that time of year where many of our teachers are trying to change schools or if you're a new teacher about to graduate the college of education, you want to go out and get a job in education. So here is my tip for you. I want you to have a plan for classroom management. Any principal who understands education will ask you what is your classroom management plan or what does behavior look like in your classroom and you want to have an answer along the lines of I plan to have practice routines and procedures in my classroom for transitioning to new content areas, entering the classroom, lining up at the door, going to lunch, whatever your processes are. Having established routines and procedures tells the principal that you understand the importance of classroom management and that you are going to mitigate the best you can any behavior problems that may arise so that you can focus on learning and not have to focus on behavior issues. That's my number one thing that I would focus on. Also, please don't just say it to the principal in the interview, do this in your classroom because classroom management has to be in place before learning can take place. Have a great day.
