Should You Still Study Computer Science in the Age of AI?

AI is reshaping jobs, education, and the future of software engineering, but not in the way most people think. I sat down with Nenad Medvidovic, the Department Chair of Computer Science at USC, to break down what AI is actually changing, what it can’t replace, and how students should prepare. Nenad Medvidovic is a Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California. He is one of the leading figures in software architecture and helped shape the field into a rigorous engineering discipline. He co-authored Software Architecture: Foundations, Theory, and Practice, a widely used textbook in universities around the world. His research on software systems that evolve while running has had a major impact on modern cloud and large-scale systems. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist, an IEEE Fellow, and a recipient of multiple major research awards.
