In this video I'm going to reply to a question that I got from Madey on Twitter: "For someone who wants to learn to code but has absolutely no knowledge on coding where should I start?"
To figure out the best way for you to learn how to program from scratch it's a good idea to think about why you want to learn coding in the first place. Becoming a professional developer is a long journey that takes a lot of motivation in order to make it through. If you can find out what motivates you to dive into computer science and to learn how to code your chance of success is much higher.
I believe that with any skill you want to learn, whether that's Python, any other programming language, playing the guitar, or carpentryโit makes sense to start with the "WHY" first. Why are you getting into this field? What's the goal that's going to keep you motivated when you're making it through the tough days and weeks when you're figuring things out as a complete beginner?
In the video I also go a little bit into how I became a software developer, what attracted me to this profession and how I eventually made a career out of it.
This video won't lay out the process for learning programming for beginners, but I hope it'll show you what the right mindset is for starting out and eventually becoming a programmer.
