How to Password Protect a Page or Post in WordPress

This could be for private pages for specific clients or for getting started if you want to keep your site content a secret until launch. Set the password you want your users to input and save your changes, now when someone visits that specific post/page they will be prompted to offer a password. If you're wanting to password protect the entirety of your site, WordPress does not have a built-in method to set this up but we do recommend SeedProd that you can purchase from the link above. Install, activate, and in the plugin's settings add your license key to have it start working. Under Settings, Coming Soon Pro you have the choice to activate the plugin for your site. If you want to have a URL that people can use to get past your coming soon page you can scroll down the settings to set up a bypass URL. When a user visits with this URL they will view the site without any issues. If you want to only limit certain URLs you can select the Include URLs in the Advanced Settings area. Don't forget to edit your coming soon page to the design you want it to appear with using the button in the General Settings section.
