Google Robot Update!

Last year, these things could even reach across the table. Now, it's twisting out light bulb. Yes, Google's DeepMind have just released Gemini Robotics 2. It's the next version of the vision language action model. But, what does it mean and what's new with these robots? Very simply, they have whole body control. They can crouch, they can walk, they can bend down to pick [music] something up. Look at this Apollo 2, which is one of their models. It can literally pick a watering can up and put it on the shelf. Now, that bit isn't so impressive. We've seen that with Boston Dynamics. Here, they give it a test of taking out the trash and tying up the knot at the top, and it were able to pull it off, even unscrewing a light bulb. But, this gets even more mental. Robots can now work as a team. Say one robot's good at one part of the process, the other one can help with it. DeepMind does admit the movement speed is slow, but you can see the huge progress we're having with AI and robotics right now.
