Are your comments confusing your team?
About this lesson
Sometimes, as leaders, what we say gets misinterpreted. You might comment on a project or an email, and suddenly your team assumes that’s the new directive, that everyone needs to do exactly what you just suggested. But maybe it was just a brainstorming idea. The key is clarity. When you give feedback or share thoughts about a project, be intentional: Is this a directive? A suggestion? Or just an idea to consider? If you don’t clarify your intent, people will act, and sometimes over-act, based on what they think you meant. Take a moment to check your intent next time you speak. Your team, and your projects, will thank you.
