Sudden drop in traffic after email hack (SMTP spam). Can this affect SEO / GSC?

Hi all, I’m hoping someone here has experience with this, because I’m a bit stuck. I launched a new website and during the first few days it was performing surprisingly well in Google Search Console. Impressions and clicks were growing nicely. However, on February 13th, one of the email accounts on my domain got compromised. Someone managed to send a large number of spam emails through SMTP. I discovered this around February 16 - 17.
